Posted In: Do Opposites Attract?
The saying “Opposites Attract” is true for magnets but not necessarily for people. A new study shows that people look for mates who are similar to them. For example, athletic people prefer other athletic people. In the study, people rated themselves in terms of this characteristics: How much money they have, their social class, how loyal they are, and their appearance. The same people then rated the importance of each of these characteristics in a mate. This study helps to explain why couples who are similar get along better than couples who are different.
